“enstol” is a furniture shop started in November 2018 in Uji, Kyoto, by a group of friends who love making things.
Our designers and craftsmen who are specialized in woodworking, upholstery, and painting design and create furniture made of solid wood. We also produce custom-made furniture, repair, and remake furniture. The name “enstol” came from the Danish word “en stol” meaning “chair” as we want to cherish the relationships with our customers that begin with a chair. Having restored many pieces of furniture that have been used and cherished for a long time, we also strive to ensure that the furniture we make will also be cherished and used for a long time. In addition, all of our staff members wish to enjoy making things freely with our customers.The moment you touch a piece of furniture that still holds the marks of handiwork in your daily life, the moment when you love the furniture that changes with time, and the moment when you are amazed to see an old piece of furniture beautifully revived. We hope to create exciting moments in our customers’ lives through our craftsmanship based on making furniture and repairing furniture.

Our concept is to create furniture that can be used and loved for a long time, with a design that makes you want to keep using it, a structure that is easy to repair, and high-quality materials and finishes. Beautiful smooth lines, the feel of carefully polished solid wood, wood and fabric that can be enjoyed as it ages, and leather. About our showroom and factory
The showroom and factory of enstol are located in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture where it’s famous for tea, and the Phoenix Hall of Byodoin Temple. We partially renovated a building that used to be a warehouse for a confectionary wholesaler and built a showroom and factory in it. At the factory, craftsmen carefully make and repair each piece of furniture to provide customers with high-quality furniture that they can use for a long time. The showroom displays furniture and products made at the factory next door. Visitors can try sitting on chairs and sofas or touch tables while hearing the sounds of manufacturing through the windows. Whether you’re looking for furniture, want to see our craftsmen at work, or just love factories, please feel free to visit us. We’re here for you!
